Hybrid cars are on everyone’s lips. Twenty, forty, or fifty dollars for a full tank of gas? Who in their right mind wants to pay that sort of money? However, frustrated, the gas customer sighs, but pays up. However, hybrid vehicles are applauded for the small amount of gas they need to operate, and they are flying off the lots of car dealerships each and everyday in increasing numbers.

But what about a plug-in hybrid? Most consumers have heard that these cars are fantastic too. So, a person might be asking him or herself, what exactly a plug-in hybrid is? How do they work, and what the difference between a plug-in hybrid and a regular hybrid is?

Plug-in hybrids are capable of running solely on batteries, but they can use fuel also. These sorts of hybrid cars share some of the features of hybrid vehicles. They are also very similar to all-electric vehicles.

Plug-in hybrid cars need to be charged externally by plugging them into an electrical power source. The combustion engine of plug-in hybrid vehicles is engaged only as a back up. These cars can run only on batteries if so desired, but it is to be expected that these kinds of hybrid cars are recharged daily.

Hybrid cars travel just as many miles as a conventional car. Designed to go the extra mile where fuel-mileage is concerned, hybrids can be driven on the highway, in cities, or wherever else a person needs to drive.

On the other hand, plug-in hybrids are designed to be driven commuter-type distances, meaning about twenty to sixty miles between destinations. This way, the plug-in hybrid does not have to use its back up combustion engine, but plug-in hybrids can go further using fuel too.

Hybrids help to reduce pollution, but they do still pollute the atmosphere. Compared with plug-in hybrids, hybrid cars still have a long way to go as far as pollution is concerned. Because plug-in hybrid cars can run solely on their battery power, they don’t have to emit waste fuel emissions at all.

Plug-in hybrids actually do combat greenhouse gas emissions and plug-in hybrids use virtually no oil imported or not. Studies have shown that electric hybrids emit at least 67% less greenhouse gases compared to petrol cars. Since the product used to power plug-in hybrids is renewable, the difference in greenhouse gas emissions may be even greater than the study indicated.

There you have it – the main differences between plug-in hybrids and regular hybrid cars. It could make a big difference, but you would be surprised at how little it actually matters at the moment, but that’s only because plug-in hybrids are not being marketed to consumers yet! But this article should make you excited about the fantastic plug-in hybrid car, which will be featuring soon on a forecourt near you.

And it’s going to be a spectacular debut too. People already really like regular hybrid cars, but they haven’t seen anything until they see the new plug-in hybrid cars. However, for now, maybe they should just be satisfied with what they have, because who knows? Before plug-in hybrid cars come out, something even better might be introduced onto the market.

The race to fitness is on and a lot of people are getting in on the act. Some people do it in order to have a sexy body, some people just do it because they are embarrassed about their body, while others do it simply to remain fit and healthy. As such, there are many fitness programs available on the Internet, in gyms, spas and fitness centres all over the world. Some are very – so expensive that you will lose weight just by trying to earn the money needed to pursue these fitness programs.

You might not need to go to the gymnasium, the spa or any fitness centre and spend much just to slim down and get that longed for beautiful body. There are so many books in the bookstores] offering diet programs which are convenient and cheap. However, the books are not cheap though. These diet plans are gaining immense popularity because of their publicity, testimonials and reviews and you may be confused as to exactly which one to follow. So before you pick which weight loss plan to follow, try checking out the following precis of the most popular diet programs around today.

Atkins’ New Diet Revolution by Dr. Atkins: This weight loss program encourages a high protein diet with a restricted carbohydrate consumption. You can dine heartily on vegetables and meat, but must not eat bread, rice or pasta. You are not restricted on your fat consumption so it is OK to pour on the (correct) salad dressing and freely spread on the butter. However, during the diet, some people may find themselves short on fibre and high on fat and cholesterol. Grains and fruits are also strictly restricted.

The Carbohydrate Addict’s Diet by Drs. Heller. This diet plan also recommends low carbohydrate food. It approves eating meats, vegetables and fruits, dairy and grain products. however, warns against consuming too many carbohydrates. “Reward” meals can be very high in fats and saturated fats.

Choose to Lose: by Dr. Goor. It recommends restricting your fat intake. You are given a “fat” budget but you are given free reign on how to spend it. It does not force people to watch their carbohydrate consumption. Eating meat and poultry as well as low-fat dairy and seafood is fine. You may also eat vegetables, fruits, cereals, bread and pasta. This weight loss plan is quite healthy, because it advises healthy amounts of fruits and vegetables as well as saturated fats. Watch your triglyceride levels though. If they are high, cut down on the carbohydrates and eat more unsaturated fats.

The DASH Diet. Recommends eating a fairly moderate amount of fat and protein but a great deal of carbohydrates. It was primarily created to lower blood pressure. The diet plan follows the pyramid food guide and encourages a high consumption of whole wheat grains and fruit and vegetables and low-fat dairy. However, some dieters think it advocates too much consumption to create a significant weight loss.

Eat More, Weigh Less: by Dr. Ornish. Mostly vegetarian food and strictly low-fat. Warns to watch out for non-fat dairy and egg whites. This diet plan is poor in calcium and restricts the consumption of healthy foods like seafood and lean poultry.

Eat Right for Your Type: It is interesting because it is based on your blood type. For example, it recommends plenty of meat for people with the blood type O. Diet plans for some blood types are nutritionally imbalanced and too low in calories. Furthermore, for the record, there is no proof that blood type affects dietary requirements.

The Pritkin Principle: It focuses on cutting back on the number of calories by eating ‘wet’ foods that make you feel full. It recommends eating vegetables, fruits, oatmeal, pasta, soups, salads and low-fat dairy, which it says is fine, although it also restricts protein sources to lean meat, seafood and poultry. It is healthy since it allows low amounts of saturated fats and rather large amounts of vegetables and fruits. However, it is low on calcium and limits lean protein sources.

Volumetrics: It provides for eating fewer calories. It recommends roughly the same foods as Pritkin but restricts fatty food and dry foods like popcorn, pretzels and crackers. This plan is reasonably healthy given the high amounts of fruit and vegetables. It is also low in calories and saturated fats.

The Zone: It is fairly low on carbohydrates but fairly high on proteins. It encourages low-fat protein foods like fish and chicken and vegetables, fruits and grains. It is also a healthy diet but lacking in grains and calcium.

Weight Watchers: They recommend high carbohydrate meals, yet are moderate on fats and proteins. A fairly healthy diet plan and very flexible too. It permits the dieter to plan his own meals rather than offering recipes, although there are WW TV dinners in the supermarkets.

If you were to invent a self-cleaning fabric, the world may want to beat a path to your door to buy some from you, but first of all they will have to be aware that the fabric exists, that it is available for purchase, and they have to know where your door is. This means advertising.

There are two classifications of advertising: institutional and product. Institutional advertising markets the name of your company in general and product advertising promotes a product or range of products or services. The type of advertising that a company needs, depends on the products or services that it provides.

Moreover, some kinds of advertising lend themselves better to institutional advertising rather than product advertising. For instance, a shop sign, a sign-written van or a promotional calendar are better suited to institutional advertising, while a newspaper or magazine advert would be better for advertising the latest special offer.

There are few facts and figures available that reveal the astonishing growth of the mass consumption society as well as those dealing with the expansion of the advertising industry. For instance, prior to the Second World War, US average annual expenditure on advertising per year had been about $2 billion for decades.

In 1950, as the post-war economy began to pick up , American businesses spent $5.7 billion to advertise its goods and services. By 1960, that figure had doubled to $12 billion. By 1970, American business was spending $20.

Between 1970 and 1990, as the children Baby Boomers became adults and began earning and spending, advertising expenditure went through the roof, so that by 1986, it had reached $100 billion.

That extraordinary rate of growth could not be maintained, but by 1999, total expenditure on all kinds of advertising topped $215 billion . The latest available figures are for 2007 and they stand at $280 billion.

In 1999, nearly 60% of all advertising dollars were spent on adverts in newspapers, magazines, on the radio and on television. By 2007, that figure had fallen to about 54% as the Internet started to have an effect on advertising trends. These trends are expected to continue as every firm is expected to have its own web site these days.

The country’s largest advertisers are the manufacturers of cars, food, soft drinks, tobacco and beer and they filter most of their expenditure through about 13,000 advertising agencies., who usually make the ads and buy the space or air time from the media too.

These agencies have been transformed over the last decade by mergers. The most lucrative advertising agencies these days are huge international concerns. WPP, the largest advertising agency in the world, billed $37 billion in 2008 and had this to say about itself:

“Our total revenue in 2008 surpassed that of all our competitors, regaining the No.1 worldwide position for the third time”.

Copperhead snakes are the snakes that cause the nastiest and most frequent snake-bite problems in the United States. The copperhead can be distinguished by its stout shape and its neck, which is distinct from the body as well as by its pale cross-band tan pattern that gets darker in the middle and on the sides.

Copperhead snakes have pale bellies, similar to the ground on which they live, but they sometimes appear pretty whitish. There are visible spots or pits on the head of copperhead snakes that look like darker tiny specks, but there is also a rather discolored stripe on the head area behind the eyes; this stripe looks very diffuse on top but it gets brownish towards the edges.

Copperhead snakes live in a wide variety of habitats. They can be found under rocks, in woods and on river banks or in pond areas. Their choice of abode is dictated by the presence of prey, as copperhead snakes live on frogs, small rodents, cicadas, lizards, caterpillars and anything else that is no match for their size.

Among the best hide-outs for copperhead snakes, wood piles, stone slabs, walls, debris and abandoned or ruined buildings are the most common, which explains the possibility of a human encounter with them in such areas. Copperhead snakes are most active in the spring and summer months and as long as the weather stays warm, after which they enter the hibernation period.

The dens into which copperhead snakes retreat during winter are their homes year after year, and usually there are more specimens living in the same place. In summer time when it is too hot outside, copperhead snakes will stay in the shade during the day and go out to hunt at night. On pleasantly warm days, the copperhead will simply bask in the sun on rocks or wood debris. Copperhead snakes do not hatch eggs, but give birth to live young. The number of young varies between one and fourteen. The mating period extends untill mid autumn.

The bites of copperhead snakes must have immediate medical care since they are not only very painful but they may also lead to permanent scarring and tissue loss. Avoid copperhead snakes when you come across them, since many people get bitten when trying to kill or handle them.

Snakes will not attack you unless they feel threatened, then, you will see how fiercely they can defend themselves. Statistics reveal that copperhead snakes have the highest incidence biting in the United States, because these snakes attack immediately without giving warning signs like other species do.

Despite the fact that astronomy is the oldest science, it is still at the forefront of not only scientific thought, but also that of the public at large. Who hasn’t gazed up at the stars while walking home late at night and wondered about something larger? Having said that though, the ancient people of definitely the northern hemisphere, but probably both hemispheres, knew the movements of the stars and planets better than the majority of us do nowadays.

They understood then, thousands of years ago, that the majority of stars appear to rise in the Eastern skies at night and travel on circular paths. They also noticed that some ’stars’ were ‘wanderers’ (we call them planets) and that sometimes they went ‘against the flow’.

They also named groups of stars that we now call constellations or even galaxies and knew that those visible in the winter were different from those seen in the summer.and that others were visible all year round. The average common man of 5,000 – 10,000 years ago almost certainly knew more about the movement of the celestial bodies than the average common man of today does. (I mean men and women here, of course).

They learned how to calculate or at least locate the extremities of the sunrise and went to extraordinary lengths to mark those positions with huge stone structures, such as Stonehenge in the United Kingdom, probably to facilitate the location of certain positions of the sun or other planets or stars, which may have been important to their religious beliefs or crop cycles.

In 1609, Galileo invented the first artificial device for studying the stars and planets. It was the first astronomical telescope and through it he was able to observe things millions of miles away that no one had ever seen before. Because of the deductions he drew from his observations, he clashed with the Roman Catholic Church and was often in serious danger for his life, so radical were his discoveries.

But mankind was not to be intimidated, and since then we have gone on to construct ever bigger and ever better astronomical telescopes through which we can even detect radio waves, microwaves, X-rays, infrared waves and gamma waves from outer space. Forty years ago, we even travelled to our Moon. and we have sent probes to eight of the nine planets in our Solar System, as well as to several comets and asteroids.

Where will we go next? That decision was always up to the government of the United States and the old USSR, but now there are other contestants in the field. What will China or India want to explore with their possibly slightly different outlook on life? Or will it be just a question of financial benefit?

The world may be in a state of flux and power may be shifting from its traditional seats, but it has not diminished interest in questions that scientists think can only be answered in space. These are exciting times in the science of astronomy, but then man has always found astronomy exciting.

However it might be right for you. Many famous people are driving hybrid cars nowadays including some of the most famous people on the planet like your favourite movie stars. But the main question is, ought you to be driving a hybrid car in the first place?

So, are you driving anything close to a hybrid car? Well, if you are not, you won’t become pally with some of these hybrid car-drivers. These people were very early owners of hybrids cars. You may not see them in a hybrid vehicle when they pull up next to you on Rodeo Drive, but believe me, they’ve owned a hybrid car before. Whatever, believe me or not they have been reported as driving hybrid cars in the past.

Alicia Silverstone This star certainly isn’t clueless about the environment. She knows that driving hybrid cars has many benefits. And if the general public doesn’t have the understanding that she has, then that’s just hard luck. Alicia knows that hybrid cars are good for the environment and therefore for everyone. So Alicia Silverstone got herself a hybrid car. So she has helped promote this new technology as far as this article goes.

Ellen DeGeneres Well, this funny lady not only has a great haircut, but she was driving a great hybrid car before you probably even knew about hybrid cars. She was probably smiling at you and your gas-guzzler last time she wizzed past you.

Robin Williams funny and lovable, Robin knew when he played the part of Mrs. Doubtfire that he should probably start thinking more like the forward-thinking driver that you would allow transport your children to and from school, so Robin got himself a hybrid car, and he hasn’t ever looked back since.

Ted Danson Cheers! Ted knows a great car when he sees one. He was definitely off the beer the morning he decided to go check out the new cars on the lot. He got up and bought a car that made a whole lot of sense. He was making a good decision when he decided on a hybrid car.

Brad Pitt What’s up? Certainly, not Brad’s petrol bills ‘cos he’s got a hybrid engine! He’s had a hybrid car, so he knows his car isn’t using that much petrol.

Prince Charles Why, surely, if it’s good enough for royalty, then it’s good enough for everyone else? That’s just how you should feel when you drive a hybrid car. You should feel proud, adorned, and envied because believe it or not, that’s just what you are when you choose to drive a hybrid car. So make the most of it.

So, do you feel like a million bucks yet? Well, you should if you are thinking of buying a hybrid car and don’t worry, you won’t have your 15 minutes of fame but you will be making a bold statement that people will understand and many people will applaud what you are doing and that will go on for years and years because hybrid cars last for a very long time.

If you need to know more about the technology in New Hybrid Vehicles, you should go along to our website where there is lots of information on http://new-hybrid-vehicles.com

The Razor scooter is a fantastic suggestion for everybody wanting to stay healthy. These days loads of individuals are office-bound and we all seem to have a decreased amount of time for simply going out for a stroll, which is the age-old remedy for gaining a few pounds. The Razor scooter can help you here.

How often have you said to yourself, ‘I haven’t got time to walk’ or ‘I can’t be bothered to walk’ and then have jumped in the automobile instead? But what if you had a Razor scooter handy? You could just scooter down to the store or the park. You could take the dog for more walks and at a quicker speed too, something your dog will surely be thankful for.

The Razor A series or its bigger siblings, the Razor Pro or Razor Cruiser, are not expensive, costing between $40 and $60, cheaper still at Amazon or eBay, yet they will quickly save you hundreds of dollars on fuel. After all, starting a vehicle is typically the most expensive part of a short journey.

The Razor scooter is also very versatile. Weighing in at approximately six pounds, anybody could carry it without difficulty up or down a couple of stairs or lift it in or out of the trunk of a car. But not only that, it folds up too, so that the whole scooter is only a couple of feet long by six inches high by six inches wide. It will without difficulty fit in a passage sideboard or the boot of a car.

Your Razor scooter could be used in many ways to save you money and keep you trimmer. For instance, if you want a loaf of bread, you could hop on your scooter. You could take you dog to the park. You could scooter with your kids ‘in a pack’. You could put a Razor scooter in the trunk of your car and scooter the last half a mile into college. And every time you get on that scooter, you are burning not petroleum but flab!

Think of it that way. You are saving energy and money and burning your excess calories at the same time. You are also exercising your legs and increasing your metabolism and heart rate too. That is everything the bank manager and the doctor suggested all wound into one . And you will be in first-class company too.

Do you know who else’s children ride Razor scooters? Well, there’s Al Pacino’s twins for a start. Now, Al Pacino is not short of a few dollars, I’m sure, so you can be certain that he’s going to be looking for the finest for his kids, isn’t he? And Lisa Kudrow and her son. And Liv and Cal, offspring of Julianne Moore and Bart Freundlich. You would be forgiven for saying, ‘Aw well, they got theirs for free!’ and that may be true, but at about $40 who cares?

The benefits in saved motor fuel and additional exercise make the Razor scooter a must-have necessity in my eyes. So, take another look at the Razor scooter and keep in mind that someone’s birthday is coming up in a little while.

Boys and girls of all ages like trains and train sets. They have played a vital part in the history of this country and Seattle, Washington and the Northwest in particular. In fact, the roles of trains in this part of the country have in the past been so critical that there are a couple of museums dedicated to them. Trains were essential supply routes for the people here for many years. While their importance seems to be diminishing in today’s society, their importance throughout the history of our country remains.

If you really are a train enthusiast, then it should not be hard to talk you into stopping by Seattle’s Train Center before and after touring the museums devoted to trains and their importance in history. The Train Center offers a wide selection of model train parts and pieces that would make excellent additions to your train set or a great beginning for a train set for you or your kids.

After you’ve whetted your enthusiasm for trains and gotten your child all excited about them, it is time to take a walk back in time to the Northwest Railway Museum. There you can learn about railway history or even choose to take a ride on one of the trains that departs on several tours throughout the day. Most of the excursions are 65-75 minutes long and are a great extravagance for young and old alike. Perhaps the best thing about this museum is that its main objective is to educate the public about the important role that railroads had in the growth of this part of the country.

If you’re really interested in sharing your affection for trains with the ones you love, you may consider taking a spin on the Spirit of Washington Dinner Train. This is a fantastic way to not only get the experience of riding the rails but to take in some of the beautiful Washington scenery and have a gourmet meal in the process. During the months of November through to April up to two children may ride free with a paying adult.

There are certain limitations on the type of seating, but it is a great way to enjoy the experience at a greatly reduced price. There are also exclusive events such as Murder Mystery Trains and Magic and Illusion shows in addition to certain holiday events as well. Be sure to check out what is going on while you are visiting Seattle and see if this is something that might interest you and your family.

If you are up for a not so short drive to Pasco (roughly three and a half hours from Seattle), you might find the Washington State Railroads Historical Society Museum well worth the trip. Be sure to remember that the museum is only open on Saturday and that the hours are restricted so this is a journey you have to plan in advance. The best thing about this museum to me is the fact that there are lovely little stories, like the blackboard that recorded the first snowfall at the depot each year and others such as this.

It is the short stories that do not necessarily make history that do make long-lasting impressions and I am happy to see this particular story is being shared. Just remember, when visiting any of these depots, museums, and train tours that you definitely must bring your inner child with you in order to enjoy them as you should.

There are certainly a lot of people who worship the sun for its power to give them a better skin colour. When you think about this, it is quite plain to see, that these people are looking at ways that they can obtain a bronzed skin.

The methods that some people employ in order to get a tanned skin consist of getting a tan outdoors from the sun itself, but also, tanning beds, tanning booths, spray on tanners, self tanning lotions and tanning pills. In part, the decision which of these methods you select, depends on the length of time that you can spare to get a perfect tan.

Some people go for tanning pills, but in reality, they work a little differently from the other, more usual methods. For example, lotions work by spreading some of the liquid, usually oil based, on different sections of your body. It is your choice which parts of you, you want to change the colour of. However, tanning pills need to be ingested orally and so will affect the whole of your body. Furthermore, you will have to choose which tanning pills to use, because, unlike lotions, if you use tanning pills, you will have fewer colour choices.

You ought to be well aware of this important point, because you will need to select a depth of tan which does not contrast too unflatteringly with the colour of other parts of your body like your hair, eyes, lips, etc. You can get these tanning pills in the same stores as you purchase your other tanning supplies.

You should however check the labeling to find out if there are any precautions you will have to take. For example, one of the most important precautions that you can take, is to see if you might have an allergic reaction to the tanning pills.

Besides this though, you might also want to find out exactly what all the media hype over tanning pills is all about. This research will also help you to decide which of the different tanning pills on the market is the right one for you. In addition, if you look on the Internet, you will get the statistics on the number of people who have developed problems after using these tablets. At this point in time, you will discover that there are three firm favourites when it comes to tanning pills.

These tanning pills are called EluSun, Deep Tan and Mayan Secrets. The most important ingredient for two of these makes is carerenoids. This substance causes the upper layer of skin to turn a pinkish colour. The colour might darken over time, but it is necessary for you to keep taking these pills for as long as you want the tan.

The main disadvantage of tanning pills is that these pills are just as risky to your health as sun bathing on the beach for hours at a time. Once you have found out all the information you can, you will have to decide whether taking tanning pills is worth the risk to your health, just to have suntanned skin colour.

Do you need to find out more about commercial tanning beds? If so, please go over to our web site on Tanning Bed Bulbs

The Razor A scooter … What does that phrase conjure up in your mind? If you have children, I’m certain that you’ve heard of the Razor A scooter series, but they weren’t about when we were kids. However, the idea was, even though I forget the brand names from my youth.

I adored my two-wheeled, kick-powered scooter when I was young. Mum and Dad had their car, my older siblings had their bicycles and I had my scooter. It didn’t go fast, but then, I didn’t go far either, but it was transport and it gave that feeling of freedom. I had my wheels and I was on the move!

Well, the modern variety of that scooter is the Razor A scooter series. And they really are modern too! They are a long chalk from the simple scooters of years ago. The Razor A scooter series was introduced in the year 2000 and is sturdy, strong, collapsible and safe.

The Razor A scooter series comes in several guises to accommodate various age groups, requirements and pockets. For example, the Razor A scooter is meant for children of six years and older, while the Razor A2 scooter, the Razor A3 scooter and the Razor Pro scooter are intended for older, weightier, more demanding and more skilful riders. With prices beginning at about $25 none of them can be considered expensive.

The Razor A scooter series is made from aircraft-grade light aluminium and weighs in at only six pounds. That’s light enough for any small child to be able to carry, if required, without risk of strain. It is also collapsible, which means that it is easy to carry under your arm, in the boot of your car or on the bus. Storage is a cinch too.

The Razor A scooter series is height-adjustable too in that the handlebars can be elevated as your child grows up or if an older sibling wants a turn. It also has a heavy-duty braking system, which is obviously quite important as these scooters will easily reach speeds of five or six mph on the flat and much more on a slope. Going down, that is.

The Razor A scooter range also has lesser and greater stable companions. The Razor Kiddie Kick is intended for children younger than six and has a third wheel for greater stability, although it is just as strong and durable as the Razor A scooter series. The Razor A scooter series is intended for ‘young-minded’ people from the age of six. I say ‘young-minded’ because it is quite the rage now, to put one in the car and scooter the last mile or two into work or college. That mile or two every day will save you gas and give you more exercise over a prolonged period of time. After all, it all adds up, doesn’t it?

Then, for those who require a bit more, there are the Razor E100(S), Razor E200(S) and the Razor E300(S), which are electrically driven scooters. The (S) means that they have a seat fitted.

So, why not introduce your kid to the concept of mobility with a Razor A scooter? Give your child the chance to look back on his or her younger years in 20-30 years time and remember rushing about at three-five mph on a Razor A scooter.

Do you have great memories of your chilhood scooter? The Razor A scooter is the modern equivilent. Come over to our website at http://razorascooter.com and find out more.
